Prussian cuirassier Kollet or heavy jacket
Prussian cuirassier regimental Kollet or jacket, made of a very heavy, thick woollen kersey cloth (1000g/mt), faced with the same fabric in the skirts and fully lined with natural raw linen/hemp, wool braid regimental pattern lace, flat pewter or brass buttons for the shoulder straps. The front is fastened with brass hooks & eyes, as are the short turnbacks and the cuffs. The Kollet replaced, and was thus styled, after the leather jerkin worn under the cuirass in the 17th century, and this was reflected in its construction. All seams were flat-felled and double-stitched from the outside, and to avoid a bulky and uncomfortable seam, the sleeves were set in around the armholes with flat seams sewn from the outside and felled inside. This replica is accurately and faithfully replicated down to the smallest detils from the original four Kollets still preserved in the Berlin Zeughaus.
Any regiment can be made, but some regimental lace is only available for a MOQ of 5 coats. The pictures show a reconstructed Kollet of the 13th Cuirassiers or Gardes du Corps, with red facings and the distinctive regimental lace of silver and red velvet, 34 mm wide, exactly like the original sample preserved in the Zeughaus archives.
This coat can be made in standard sizes or to measure (see measure form above).
Also available is the officer's Kollet in a much finer wool cloth, lined with fine linen.
"Today is really a nice day, my uniform has been delivered, it all fits perfectly and is very well made, thank you very much for the very good work"
